Derek Stockley offers a public speaking and presentation skills training course. It is suitable for anyone required to speak or make presentations, either within organisations or to public. The program is designed for people who want to make effective speeches and presentations that achieve results.

If you are seeking specialised public speaking and/or presentation skills training, see Other Public Speaking/Presentation Skills Training Options. If you are seeking a public train the trainer program, see: two day public trainer the trainer course in Melbourne or Sydney.

Need for public speaking and presentation skills training

These days, effective communication and public speaking skills are vital. Whether it be for meetings with staff, internal or external presentations, formal occasions - the ability to speak clearly and convey a distinct message is essential.

This is an intermediate level program, designed for those with some speaking and presentations experience. The focus is on refreshing the public speaking and presentations essentials before enhancing existing skills so that every presentation achieves the objectives set, whether they are to inform, persuade or "make the sale".

The program covers:

Public speaking skills/approaches
Presentation methods that achieve success
How to make an impact and obtain interest
How to interact with an audience
How technology can assist
How to design and deliver presentations with impact

However, the course design allows participants to specialise or focus on particular topic areas. For example, some participants may wish to focus on all aspects related to public speaking skills. If your time is a critical resource, then this program is designed for you.

If this course description is close to your requirements, but you have a different or additional need, see also the explanation of the EssentialsPLUS process at Course Alternatives.

Practical focused training

A variety of approaches are used to meet training needs.

Each participant is asked to complete a training needs questionnaire that outlines their public speaking and/or presentations experience. This enables Derek Stockley to cater for individual needs within the overall program.

The training group is limited to a maximum of ten participants.

If you use technology, you are invited to bring your own laptop computer to work on improving existing presentations or to create new ones from existing material. Please note: this is not a PowerPoint training course - you will need to already know how to use your technology, see use of PowerPoint in training, seminars and conferences.

After the training, you can expect to be able to make presentations that are interesting and effective. You will feel confident and positive. Each presentation should be a challenge but not a traumatic experience.

Further information

If the available dates are not suitable, or you would prefer more specialised training, individuals or groups of four or less can register their interest or learn more about the on-demand service at: On-demand Service Explanation or register directly at On-demand Training Registration.

Examples of the type of solutions possible are shown at: Presentation Training/Coaching Examples.

Companies and other organisations with five or more to be trained can request further information and a quotation through the in-house training request page or learn more about inhouse training at: in-house training explanation.

* Depending on your location, if you have three or more participants from the one organisation, an on-demand program or inhouse training can be very cost effective. The investment per person is reduced and you gain the maximum benefit from a shorter time commitment. Participants feel that they have covered the equivalent of a two day course in half the time. And the 'relevancy' factor is very high, as the pre-course liaison ensures that every topic covered is relevant to participant needs.
