Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training or specialist training?
Train the Trainer (TTT) is a generic name that covers a wide range of programs and courses that teach training techniques.
In Australia, one specific program is the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, which consists of eight units. This nationally recognised training program is often cited as the minimum qualification required for full-time tutors or training officers. The certificate’s framework is currently being reviewed, see: Training and Assessment (TAA) Training Package.
In a classroom or training room setting, the certificate is normally packaged into three modules, a total of 10-11 days. It is offered by TAFE and other registered training organisations. This is often too much (time and fees) for many people who want to conduct training programs in their organisation. However, a
Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training via online or traditional distance learning could be an effective, low cost alternative.
For others (individuals or organisations), a specifically designed "train the trainer" program can be an attractive alternative to the formal certificate course, particularly if the course is specifically designed to meet the needs of the organisation and the individuals to be trained.
As an additional bonus, Train the Trainer programs provide excellent management development, as they focus on human communication and relationships. The ability to pass on knowledge and skills is an essential feature of managing others.
