Staff Development Scheme - Performance Management in Local Government |
|
In Victoria, local government Councils and authorities use a performance review and salary review system called the Staff Development Scheme. As it is quite some time since Councils and authorities underwent the design and implementation of their schemes, now may be an opportune time to review and upgrade them. Like other organisations, the circumstances and requirements will vary. An individualised and adaptable approach is necessary. The approach must support managers, team leaders and staff in their conduct and/or participation in staff development discussions or performance reviews. The Local Government Award requires each council or authority to have a staff development scheme which meets Award requirements. As many staff now have access to computers, reviewing and upgrading to use web based technology or an online system that may also be of benefit. Performance appraisal software can streamline and simplify the administrative processes associated with performance management. If you wish to review your scheme, see Performance Management Consulting Services, or or contact Derek Stockley at Contact Page. |
